OTO, Iowa -- Maxine Richardson, 91, of Oto died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Oto United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oto Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Maxine Violet Mead Richardson was born Aug. 25, 1916, in Oto, to Wm. Peter Petersen and Perle Armstrong Petersen. She graduated from Oto High School in 1933. Until three years ago, she had spent her entire life in Oto.

She was united in marriage to Leander "Gus" Mead on Aug. 25, 1937. He passed away in November 1975. She married Arnold Richardson in September 1979. He passed away in September 2003.

She was active in her church, Oto United Church of Christ, where she faithfully played the piano for 75 years. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Peggy and Bill Barbee of Wichita, Kan.; two sons and their wives, Larry and Pat Mead of Wheat Ridge, Colo., and Bill and Cheryl Mead of Superior, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a sister, Lillian King of Cherokee, Iowa.

Memorial contributions in memory of Maxine may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
