Goldie Irene Pedersen, 82, of Sioux City, formerly of Anthon, Iowa died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at Indian Hills Care Center in Sioux City.

Services will be at 100 a.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul G. Sieveking officiating. Burial will be Oak Hill Cemetery, Anthon, Iowa. Visitation will be today from 2 to 8 p.m. with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City.

Mrs. Pedersen was born on Feb. 21, 1917 in Correctionville, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Bessie (Downey) Gordon. She graduated from Lawton High School in 1935.

She married Paul Pedersen on March 11, 1936 in Sioux City. They farmed in the Lawton area from 1936 to 1947 and from the Anthon area from 1947 to 1974, when she moved to Sioux City. She was employed at the Anthon Grocery Store, St Luke’s Regional Medical Center, Clean Towel Service, Sioux City Crockery and Hy-Vee Grocery.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Anthon and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City.

She enjoyed sewing, upholstering, cards and dancing.

Survivors include two sons, LeRoy and his wife, Yvonne of Sioux City, and Richard of Anthon; two daughters, Beverly Pedersen of Des Moines, Iowa and Shirley and her husband, Jim Soukup of Sioux City; a sister, Naomi Madison of Sioux City, 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Cecil, Lewis and Wayne Gordon; a sister, Wanda Porter and a grandson, Clint Pedersen.

Pallbearers will be Craig and Curtis Pedersen, Rick and Andy Soukup, Mr. Hayes and Todd Hagaman.
