KINGSLEY, Iowa — Donald W. Oleson, 82, of Royal, Iowa, formerly of Kingsley, died Sunday, May 10, 1998, at his residence.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley, with Darla Rock officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Pierson, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Oleson was born Aug. 1, 1915, in Kingsley, the son of William and Mabel (Forbes) Oleson. He was raised on a farm in Kingsley and graduated from Kingsley High School in 1932.

He married Katherine Lapora on March 23, 1942, in Orange City, Iowa. The couple farmed near Kingsley. They moved to Royal in 1996. He raced midget auto racers from 1937 to 1941. He was also a private pilot.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and their wives, Dennis and Cyndi of Sioux Falls, S.D., Ken and Susie of Pierson and Bill and Betty of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Dorine and John Bredvick of Chetek, Wis.; a sister and her husband, Irene and Clifford Perry of Le Mars, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Bert Henley of Mount Vernon, Iowa; five grandchildren, Ann and Ted Oleson, Kevin and Damon Sanow and Melissa Krukow; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Audury Henley.
