LE MARS, Iowa - Marie Woodward, 97, of Le Mars died Sunday, Jan. 18,1998 at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. Leonard Waller, of Church of the Nazarene, and the Rev. Lynn Potter, of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Cemetery at Pierson, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Woodward was born June 24, 1900 in Pierson, the daughter of Ole and Alice (Petersen) Foss. She graduated from Pierson High School.

She married Leslie Woodward on Sept. 10, 1919 in Pierson. The couple lived in the Pierson and Kingsley, Iowa area until 1964 when they moved to Le Mars. He died March 29, 1970. She entered the Plymouth Manor in November 1989.

She was a member of Church of the Nazarene, where she enjoyed the church activities.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Dorothy and the Rev. Robert Weathers and Wanda and Donald Herbold, all of Olathe, Kan. and Lillian and Verb Kehrberg of Le Mars; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dean, four sisters and a brother.
