John R. Couch, 78, of Sioux City died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at a Sergeant Bluff care center following a brief illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, at Meyer brothers Colonial Chapel, With the Rev. Schauland
officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m:, with
the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Couch was born Oct. 29, 1923, in Bronson, Iowa, to John P. and Ruth (Weston) Couch. He attended Bronson schools, graduating from Bronson High School in 1941. He was a machinist 3rd Class in the Seabees Construction Battalion with the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He married Jeanne Murphy on Jan. 8, 1948, in Reno, Nev. He was employed with Advance Industries for more than 20 years; Viking Electronics for seven years; and worked in maintenance at Stone State Park for six years.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne; two daughters and their husbands, Kathy and Mark Robinson of Florida, and Lynne and Virgil Moore of Iowa; two sons and their wives, Jim and Patty Couch of Minnesota, and John and Shari Couch of Minnesota; a sister, Lucille Parsley of California; four grandsons, Ben, Jake, Brent and Derek; three granddaughters, Taylor, Amy and Heather; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mark Robinson, Kevin Pape, Bill Lewon, Mike Cornish, Jim Welch and Bobby Jones.

Memorials in John's name may be directed to the Woodbury County Conservation Eoundation, Stone State Fund.
