SIOUX CITY -- Jonathan P. Flanders, 30, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at a local hospital.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be posted online at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Jonathan was born May 9, 1981, in Sioux City, the son of Mike and Kim (Beavers) Flanders. He attended West Monona School and Westwood High School. Jon worked as a self-employed contractor.

Jon loved music, playing pool, and riding quads, but his greatest love was spending time with his son, family, and friends. He lived life to the fullest, but had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back to a person in need. He would help with any problem or home repair that anyone had. Jon was a very well liked, special person and will be missed by many.

Survivors include his son, Michael Anderson of Council Bluffs, Iowa; parents, Kim and Mike Flanders of Sioux City; two brothers, Alan and wife, Sara of Sloan, Iowa, and Chris and girlfriend, Roberta of Sioux City; a sister, Trisha and husband, Isiah Hallowell of Sioux City; grandparents, Bob and Alice Flanders of Sioux City and Burb and Marcia Beavers of North Sioux City; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; 12 nieces and nephews; and his dog, Gizmo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family in Jon's name.
