SALIX, Iowa -- Paul Hubert, 95, Whiting, Iowa, formerly of Salix, passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, with the Rev. Patrick O'Kane officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.rushfamilycareservice.com.

Leo Paul was born May 25, 1916, on the family farm in Salix, the son of Napolean Francis and Ella (Robin) Hubert. He received his education and graduated from St. Joseph School in 1934. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Paul and Maxine Pratt were united in marriage on July 2, 1940. He lived in the Salix area all his life, with the exception of three years when the couple moved to LuVerne, Minn. He farmed until retiring in 1992. He served as Salix town clerk for 10 years. In the wintertime, he worked at Calvert Seed Co., Cudahy Packing, Sioux City Foundry and Broyhill.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Gary and Renee of Salix; three grandchildren, Marc Hubert of Salix, Michelle (Ryan) Vos of Sanborn, Iowa, and Adam (Valerie) Hubert of Johnston, Iowa; and three great-grandchildren, Makenzie and Paige Vos and Owen Hubert.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maxine; a brother, Francis; and a sister, Yvonne Carpenter.
