SIOUX CITY | Russ C. Edwards, 83, of Sioux City passed away in Sioux City.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Jay Denne officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Russ was born on Sept. 8, 1929, in Sioux City, to Leroy and Mayme (Russ) Edwards. He grew up and attended Sioux City Schools. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard rising to the rank of master sergeant.

He was united in marriage to Sheila O'Conner in 1962 in Luverne, Minn. They were divorced in 1964. He worked for Cudahy Packing Plant, Sioux Paper Supply and I-Go Moving and Storage in Sioux City.

Russ enjoyed his pets, automobiles, old western movies and T.V. shows. He also loved talking about politics.

Survivors include his nieces, Vickie and Vince Henrichsen of Sioux City, Mary Torno, Barbara and Mel Clausen and JoAnn and Clair Atwood, all of Sioux City; nephew, Roy "Rusty" and Sue Edwards of Clearwater, Fla.; sister-in-law, Phyllis Edwards of Sioux City; and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jimmy and Harold Edwards; two sisters, Laura Schimberg and Myrtle Smith; a nephew, Darrell Schimberg; and niece, Loretta Schimberg.
