SIOUX CITY | Russell J. Wiltgen, 53, of Waukee, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, while in Tempe, Ariz.

A celebration of life service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. David A. Hemann as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Russell was born in Sioux City, and was an avid golfer as well as a loyal Hawkeye fan. He attended Bishop Heelan High School in Sioux City and graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in actuarial science. After graduation, he went to work for the Mutual of Omaha Companies. From there, Russ moved to Lincoln, Neb., and worked for the UNIFI Companies. He currently held the position of Chief Actuary for FBL Financial Group Inc. of West Des Moines, Iowa.

Russ is survived by his wife of 33 years, Annette (Jarman); sister, Vicki Taylor (Bob); and four brothers, Denny (Suzanne), Ed (Mary), Dan (Joanie), and Tony (Henrietta).

Russ was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Phyllis.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
