SIOUX CITY | Virginia L. Wilder, 90, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at a local hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Crescent Park United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Scott Squires officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present at 6 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Virginia was born on May 24, 1922, in Humboldt, Iowa, to Ralph D. and Esther K. (Kinseth) Cook. She resided in Humboldt until 1938. The family then moved to Waterloo, Iowa, where she graduated from West High School.

Virginia married John H. Wilder on Jan. 27, 1946, in Waterloo. The couple moved to Sioux City in June of 1947. Virginia was a proud mother of two girls, Linda and Jacqueline.

She was a mother adviser for the Order of Rainbow for girls, including a past Grand Deputy. Virginia was a former member of the ISIS Chapter 173 of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a proud 56-year member of the Crescent Park United Methodist Church, and was extremely active within the church. Virginia volunteered and served on the board for the St. Luke’s Auxiliary. With all her activities, and all her devotion to her church, Virginia still kept her family as her top priority.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Cipperley and her husband, Chuck of Sioux City; grandchildren, Anne Gaskell, Kyle Cipperley, Jon Sparks and Amy Revak; and seven great-grandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; daughter, Linda Sparks; and great-grandson, Charlie Gaskell.

Memorials may be offered to the Crescent Park United Methodist Church.
