SIOUX CITY | Richard O. Brown, 85, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at a Sioux City hospital.

Private family services will be held at a late date. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com

Richard was born July 22, 1927, in Salix, Iowa, to Otto and Bessie (Lee) Brown. He attended Sioux City schools. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was married to Juli Walsh on July 5, 1947, in Sioux City. To this union two children were born. He was later married to Norma Uhl on June 13, 1980, in Sioux City. She preceded him in death on June 16, 1997, in Sioux City. He worked for the Sioux City Community School District as a bus driver.

Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years. He also enjoyed doing yard work.

He is survived by his daughters, Cathrin (Dave) Watterson and Carla (Doug) Curtis, both of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Andrea (Ricardo) Ruiz, Wyatt (Stacey) Hagan, Jeffrey Watterson, Daniel Watterson, Eric Curtis and Carley Curtis and significant other Jake Anderson; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Daryl (Beulah) Brown of North Sioux City, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Norma; four brothers, John, Raymond, Marvin and Donald; and two sisters, Rose and Helen.
