SIOUX CITY | Joyce Elizabeth (Ketterer) Reining, 61, of Sioux City, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, after fighting cancer, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church, with the Rev. David Hemann officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with a vigil service at 5 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Joyce was born March 14, 1951, in Yankton, S.D., to Joseph and Oda (Jensen) Ketterer. She attended school in Yankton and spent the majority of her childhood there as well.

Joyce was united in marriage to Jerry Joe Reining Sr. in 1969 and later she gave birth to her son, Jerry Joe Reining II, in October 1969 in Yankton. In February 1975 she gave birth to a daughter named Cristal Elizabeth Reining.

Then, upon the opening of Yankton Wal-Mart, she was employed as a CSM until she transferred to Sioux City Wal-Mart. After working 16 years she made the decision to leave Wal-Mart to raise her three grandsons after the death of her daughter.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Jerry Sr. of Sioux City; son, Jerry II (Mindy) of Yankton; brother, Roger Ketterer, of Wyoming; sister, Kathy Hackett, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and her four grandsons, Roger, Austin, David and Levi.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Ketterer; mother, Oda Ketterer; brothers, Bob Ketterer and Joe Ketter; sister, Ileen Guillaume; and her daughter, Crystal Reining.
