LAWTON, Iowa | LaVaun "Bonnie" Goodwin, 91, of Lawton passed away on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Char Mac Assisted Living in Lawton.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton, with the Rev. Bruce Jackson officiating. Burial will be Banner Township Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.

Bonnie was born Feb. 5, 1921 in Hungerford Township near Hinton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Henry and Mathilda (Bornholtz) Junck. She grew up on the family farm near Hinton, attended country school in Plymouth County and St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Sioux City.

Bonnie married Wayne E. Goodwin Feb. 20, 1943 in Laverne, Minn. He died March 28, 2011 in Sioux City. Bonnie was a housewife and business partner with Wayne. She worked hand in hand with him at the Goodwin Locker in Lawton for 30 years as well as the laundromat and a feed store.

She was a great mom and grandmother. Bonnie loved to cook for the family on holidays and she loved the flowers in her yard. Bonnie and Wayne enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling together in their motor home, especially to fishing spots in South Dakota and Wisconsin. She was a longtime member of Bethel Lutheran Church, the Dancing Grannies and Grandpas, the American Legion Auxiliary and the couple took care of the Lawton Town Hall.

Survivors include her three children, Nancy Rentel and her husband Rodney of Sioux City, Kaye Albers and her husband Wayne of Holstein, Iowa, and Terry Goodwin and his wife Colleen of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Michael Goodwin, Scott Albers, Steve Albers, Nick Rentel, Sarah Goodwin, Alison Rentel-Lacska and Jennifer Thorson; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lucille Eberly of Lawton.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; her sisters, Irene Vanderloo, Mildred Scherner and Betty McNaughton; and her brothers, Frank, Clarence, Martin and Irvin Junck.

Pallbearers will be the grandchildren and their spouses.

Memorials may be directed to Bethel Lutheran Church or Hospice of Siouxland.

The family would like to thank the staff at Char Mac Assisted Living and the staff at Hospice of Siouxland for their loving care given to Bonnie.
