SIOUX CITY | August Krohn, 99, of Sioux City died Saturday at a local hospital.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Graveside services and burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Golgotha Lutheran Cemetery near Wausa, Neb. Visitation will be the hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

August was born Dec. 7, 1913 on the family farm in Knox County, Neb. near Wausa. He was the fourth child of Gustav and Auguste (Dibbert) Krohn from a family of four daughters and three sons. He was baptized and confirmed at Golgotha Lutheran Church.

He attended country school for eight years then helped out on the family farm. He stayed engaged in farming until 1960. August moved to Sioux City in 1961 and was employed by Brower Construction Co. doing road work until his retirement.

On May 6, 1985 he married Luella M. Bryceson in Elk Point, S.D. They enjoyed gardening and canning. August also grew beautiful roses. He was an avid reader and enjoyed family gatherings and company. August was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for many years. Luella died July 3, 2000 in Sioux City.

Survivors include a sister, Emma Folkers of Randolph, Neb.; a sister-in-law, Hazel Krohn of Bloomfield, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; three sisters and their husbands, Ida and Rudy Mueller, Olga and Emil Blunk and Dora and Harry Kumm; two brothers, Herman Krohn and Otto Krohn; two nephews, Orville Blunk and Bryan Folkers; and a niece, Janice Lederer.

Memorials may be made in his name to St. Paul’s Lutheran School.
