SIOUX CITY | Gerald "Gary" E. Schuldt, 62, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sioux City, with interment and military rites held at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m., at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff. Online condolences may be made at www.waterburyfuneralserviceinc.com.

Gary was born on Feb. 13, 1950 in Sioux City, the son of Myron Lee and Ona Mae (Custer) Schuldt. He attended Riverside High School. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1971.

On Nov. 6, 1971, he was united in marriage with Janet M. Berube in Troy, N.H. The couple made Sioux City their home. Gary worked for many years at Warren Electric and Rogers Electric in sales until his illness forced his retirement in 2009.

Gary loved life and enjoyed it to its fullest. He enjoyed fishing, reading, traveling and playing cards. He always enjoyed learning new things as well as being a student of history. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always happy. He treasured the time he could spend with all of his family and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather,

He will be missed by his loving family which includes his wife, Jan of Sioux City; his sons, Gary Lee Schuldt of Sioux City, and Tech. Sgt. Joshua Schuldt, stationed in Belgium; his daughters, Heather Mae Schuldt of Eldersburg, Md., and Holly Marie Scoffield and her husband Jason of Carlisle, Mass. He is also survived by three brothers, Glen of St. Paul, Minn., John of Galliano, La., and Randy of Sanford, Mich.; two sisters, Diane Riggins of Loda, Ill., and Roxann Meyer of Litchfield, Minn.; and his four grandchildren, Elisabeth, Ethan, Andrew and Harrison.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
