SIOUX CITY -- DeEtte F. Strand, 81, of Sioux City passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. today at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial of the cremains will be in Elk Point Cemetery, Elk Point, S.D. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service today at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

DeEtte was born Nov. 15, 1930, in Duluth, Minn., to Russell and Norma (Gruber) Folsom. She graduated from Central High School.

She was married to Jerry Strand on Nov. 29, 1950, in Sioux City. Besides being a homemaker, she also worked at Younker's, First Federal and Home Federal Banks.

DeEtte loved spending time with her family and supporting the Iowa Hawkeyes. She also loved to visit with her neighbors.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Strand of Sioux City; four children, Jerry R. (Mary) Strand of Missoula, Mont., Judy L. Jansen of Sioux City, Lori J. Foster of Sioux City, and Leonard T. (Chris) Strand of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Terry (Judy) Folsom of Manchester, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Russell J. Folsom.
