3/1/1934 - 6/8/2012Dennis C. Moser, 78 years old, of Marcus, IA, died Friday, June 8, 2012, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus with Rev. Armand J. Bertrand officiating and Msgr. Roger Augustine, Rev. Eugene Murray and Rev. Richard Remmes concelebrating. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery in Marcus. Visitation will be any time after 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2012, with the family present from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be a vigil prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time all at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus.
Dennis was born March 1, 1934, on a farm at Bloomfield, NE, the son of Carl and Rose(Petsche) Moser. In 1941 he moved with his family to Danbury, IA, where he attended Danbury grade and high school, graduating in 1952. His father died in 1952 and Dennis farmed the family farm, drove school bus and did trucking. On June 15, 1957 he married Betty Alesch at St. Mary Catholic Church in Remsen. They made their home on the family farm near Danbury until 1970 when they had the opportunity to move to Marcus, IA, to farm the Alesch family farm where his wife was born. He raised cattle and hogs and was a true farmer. In 1994 he and Betty retired and moved into Marcus. The farm continues to be a Century Farm now in the 4th generation. The couple spent their winters in Mesa, AZ since 1998.
Dennis was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, and former church board member, 50 year member of Knights of Columbus, Danbury Council 2839, past member of the Marcus City Council for 10 years, past Marcus Golf Club board member.
Survivors include: his wife Betty of Marcus; 3 children and 6 grandchildren, Kim Moser of Omaha, NE, Jerry Moser and his wife Linda of Marcus and their children Brock, Haley and Emily all at home, Jody Holmes and her husband Jeff of Marcus and their children, Mike of Johnston, IA, Tim of West Des Moines, IA and Jackie at home; 4 Brothers and their wives, Gene and Mary, Don and Katie all of Danbury, IA, Loren and Bev of La Mesa, CA; 1 Sister, Ellen Weber of Danbury, IA.
Preceded by his parents; 1 son, Dennis Raymond in infancy in 1959; 3 Sisters and their husbands, Frances and Bob Brummer, Irene and Darrell Buschkamp, Phyllis and Loren Brenner: 1 brother-in-law, James Weber.
Casket bearers: Mike and Tim Holmes, Brock, Dean, Doug and Mark Moser, Doug Brouillette, Marty Weber.
Honorary bearers: Jack Clarkson, Willie Goth, Jim Hoefling, Marty Irwin, Pat Pick, Kendall “Skip” Sexton, Denny Spieler, Merle Spieler, Clem "Butch" Wessling Jr
