Fernand "Ferdie" Chicoine 1916-2003

Fernand "Ferdie" Chicoine, 86, of Sioux City died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at his residence. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Riverside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Charles Wolff officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Berkemier Chapel.

Mr. Chicoine was born May 3, 1916, in Jefferson, S.D., the son of Emile and Evonne (Morin) Chicoine. He was raised in Jefferson and graduated from Central High School in Sioux City. He entered the U.S. Army in 1941.

He married Priscilla "Pat" Milliken on June 2, 1946, in Wayne, Neb. He Was a farmer and worked at Wilson Trailer during the winters. After retiring from farming, he worked at First Federal. He lived his entire life in the Jefferson and Sioux City areas.

He was a member of Riverside Lutheran Church in Sioux City and enjoyed cribbage leagues and tournaments.

Survivors include his wife, Priscilla "Pat" Chicoine of Sioux City; four daughters, Carol and her husband, Kim Rogers, of Platsmouth, Neb., Debra Frazee of Sioux City, Diane and her husband, Gerald Baldwin, of Apple Valley, Minn., and Doreen Allison of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Delwin and MiWha Chicoine of Ridgecrest, Calif.; a brother and his wife, Leighton and Sonia Chicoine of Sioux City; a sister and her husband, Maxine and Don Galland of Arizona; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Hubert Chicoine; and a granddaughter, Jannie Baldwin.
