LaGrand Kenneth Chase, 77, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Phil Cleigh of New Hope Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Chase was horn Jan. 1, 1922, in Concord, N.H., the son of Major Lewis and Major Frances Chase, who served in the Salvation Army.
He married Genevieve Clark on Sept. 7, 1941 He served as a first lieutenant in the European Theater during World War II and was later called out of the reserves to support the Korean War in 1950.
He was employed with Continental Baking Co. in Sioux City for 38 years, retiring in 1982. She died Oct. 8, 1982.
He married Katherine Mulheron on March 28, 1987.
He attended New Hope Wesleyen Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Steven K. and Kathleen of Bothell, Wash., and John T. and Joyce of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Cheryl Lee and Roger Kloster of Jackson, Minn.; two stepsons and their wives, Paul and Rita Grieve of Biloxi, Miss., and Dan and Debbie Grieve of Mountlake Terrace, Wash.; two step-daughters and their husbands, Ellen and Dennis Butler and Vickie and Curt Baker, all of Sioux City; three sisters, Eva Koons of Trenton, N.J., Francis Simmons of Wyalusing, Penn., and Treasure Hayes of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Ernest Chase of Hawthorne, N.J.; 12 grandchildren, Katrina Cox, Troy Kloster, Diana, Daniel, Elizabeth and Christopher Chase, Cindy Baker, Steven, Tim, Katelyn, Caleb and Dionie Grieve; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis and a great-grandchild.
