Robert E. "Bob" Chilson, 78, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Trimble United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Carol James officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Chilson was born Dec. 13, 1922, in Sioux City, the son of Albert and Charlotte (Ressegieu) Chilson.

He grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. He graduated from Central High School and Morningside College. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was in the infantry at the Battle of the Bulge.

He married Louise L. Mahrt on July 26, 1946, in Sioux City. He worked for Producers Commission Co. at the Sioux City Stockyards for 35 years.

He was a member of Trimble United Methodist Church and Morningside Masonic Lodge 615 A.F. & A.M. He enjoyed spending winters in Arizona and
playing golf.

Survivors include his wife, Louise of Sioux City; two daughters and their husbands, Debby and Jim Gunsolley of South Sioux City and Nan and Mark Kloberdanz of West Des Moines; a brother and his wife, Richard and Carol Chilson of Albuquerque, N.M.; and three grandchildren, Jamie Gunsolley¬Fields and her husband, Josh, Cassie and Ryan Kloberdanz.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Robert Chilson; his parents; and a brother, John Chilson.

Pallbearers will be Jeff, Bill and Duane Mahrt, Ryan Kloberdanz, Josh Fields and Douglas Brown.
