Robert Stanley Chilton, 78, of McCook Lake died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. George Affeldt of World Wide Church of God officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service today at the funeral home.

Mr. Chilton was born June 25, 1923, in Luton, Iowa, the son of Roy Nerson and Ruth (Sluyter) Chilton. He was raised in Siouxland and lived in the area his entire life. He graduated from Lawton (Iowa) High School. He served in the U.S. Army as a radar mechanic during World War II. He was a former owner of Custom Products and was employed with Phillips Kiln Service. He was most recently employed with Arrow Stage Lines.

He was a member of World Wide Church of God in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Survivors include a daughter, Betsy Chilton of Le Mars, Iowa; a son, Bob of Arlington, Texas; a daughter, Kate Chilton of Los Angeles; and five grandchildren, Adam, Tyler, Will, Julia and Andrew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Darrol Chilton; and a sister, Virginia Coover.
