Matthew K. Casey, 82, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Emery VanGerten, pastor of Westlawn Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with miltary rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Sergeant Floyd Post 1973.

Mr. Casey was born June 2, 1916, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of James and Mae (Olson) Casey. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was present at Wheeler Field, Hawaii on Dec. 7, 1941. He moved to Sioux City in 1943.

He married Gladys Ross on June 18, 1944, in Sioux City. She died May 2, 1074, in Sioux City. He was employed with Iowa Public Service for 33 years, retiring in 1976.

Survivors include a son, Ross of Sioux City.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Bart Lane, Dave Rosemeyer, Gary Dicus, John Provost, Bruce Soloman and Dennis Wiese.
