Casler Electric founder,, CEO dies at age 81

Myron Wade Casler, 81, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, March 16, 2001, following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel with the Rev. Roy Christman officiating. There will be a Masonic service at 7 p.m. conducted by the Morningside Lodge 615 A.F. and A.M. The body was cremated. There is no visitation.

Mr. Casler was born Aug. 21, 1919, in Sioux City, the son of Myron A. and Vina E. (VanderBurg) Casler. He was educated in Sioux City and Gilbert, Iowa, public schools. He went on to study at Iowa State University where he received his bachelor of science degree in engineering. He received post-graduate degrees from William and Mary College and a master of science degree in engineering from Syracuse University. He was a founder, owner and CEO of Casler Electric Company, an electrical engineering and consulting firm located in Sioux City, with satellites, in Nebraska and California. He was widely known for his work on major electric engineering projects throughout the United States. He had resided in Fort Myers since 1982.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a past member of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, a past member of Illuminating Engineers, National Electrical Contractors Association, America Management Association and Sportsman's Association. He was a 50-year member of Morningside Lodge 615 A.F. and A.M., a member of the Scottish Rite of Sioux City, a member of Abu Bekr Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Sioux City and a member of many other community and civic organizations.

He was an avid boater.

Survivors include his wife, Sally A. Casler; two daughters, Sandra L. Casler and Janice M. and her husband, Robert Van Ouwerkerk, all of Tampa. Fla.; a stepdaughter and her husband, Deborah L. and Tom Brasher of Parkville, Mo.; a stepson and his wife, James W. and Sherry Hegg of Sioux City; two granddaughters, Melissa Tucker and Rachael Myers; two step-grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mavis M. Casler; a sister, Lillian Schwenk; a step-grandson; and a great-granddaughter
