Albert Luverne Sorenson, 81, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at a Sioux City care center.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Kevin Lee officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Sorenson was born Jan. 29, 1920, in Marion, S.D., the son of Chris and Anna (Larsen) Sorenson. He was raised in Marion, where he attended school. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from February 1942 to December 1945.

He married Mildred Marie Ludwig on Jan. 7, 1947, in Sioux City. The couple moved to Sioux City in the early 1950s. He was employed with Chris Hansen Construction.

He was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church and Carpenters Union 321. He enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Mark and Susan Sorenson of Coralville Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Jean and Ron Johnson of Marion, Iowa; and six grandchildren, Daniel Sorenson, Jasot Corey, Justin Corey, Anna John son and Curtis Johnson.

He was preceded in death his parents; a son, Gary; two sisters; and a brother.
