Johnny W. Christophersen, 76, of Sioux City died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Church of the Nativity, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be 2 to 8:30 p.m. today, with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Mr. Christophersen was born Oct. 17, 1924, in Danbury, Iowa, the son of Hans and Magda (Ronneau) Christophersen. He was raised in the Danbury area. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific from 1943 to 1946.

He married Edith M. Kunkel on Feb. 3, 1948, in Mapleton, Iowa. The couple lived in rural Danbury until 1954, when they moved to Sioux City. He was a farmer and retired in 1980.

He was a member of Church of the Nativity, Antique Tractor Club of Merrill, Iowa, a "Gold Card Holder" of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, and U.S. Thetis Bay Association.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Bob and Eunice of Grassy Butte, N.D.; two daughters and their husbands, Cathy and Rick Kingston of Sioux City, and Jane and James Flynn of Cleburne, Texas; five grandchildren, Chad and Rusty Christophersen, Cody and Stephanie Kingston, and Garrett Flynn; a brother and his wife, Marvin and Darlene of Corinth, Miss.; and three sisters, Luella Brant of Anthon, Iowa, Violet and her husband, Everett Steinhoff of Trenton, Mo., and Viola Stark of Clinton, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Billy.

Pallbearers will be James Flynn, Rick Kingston, Rusty and Chad Christophersen, Hugh Payne, Danny Brant and Scott Herbold.
