Louie M. Church, 81, of Sioux City died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel with the Rev. Alex Washington officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by American Legion Monahan Post 64.

Mr. Church was born March 23, 1920, in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of John W. and Flora (Bushlow) Church. He attended and graduated from Cherokee High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force four years, stationed in Watson Lake, Yukon Territory for two years. He married Dorothy Akin in 1943 in Cherokee. He was employed with Williams Pipe Line for 39 years, retiring in 1985.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Louie Church II and his wife, Sue of Sioux City, and Donald Church of Logan, Utah; four, grandchildren, John Church, Asa Church, Anne Haugen and Bill Church; two great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Althea Church of Salem, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Dewey, John, William, Donald and Edward Church; and five sisters, his twin, Martha Church, Pearl Deyager, Mary Church, Marie Hollingshed and Jane Church.

Pallbearers will be Bill and John Church, Dan Haugen and John Mullen
