Harold M. Campbell, 100, of Sioux City died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be at noon Thursday at Morningside Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Roger D. Graf officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Mr. Campbell was born July 29. 1900, in Leeds, Iowa, the son of John Gray and Emma (Nelson) Campbell. He attended school in James, Iowa, and Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb. He farmed until entering the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1943.

He married Edith Vermeer June 20, 1949, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He was employed as a mechanic with JD Plow and Co., Sioux City Tractor and Curtis Sash and Door Co. He retired in 1965.

He was a member of Morningside Presbyterian Church and was active in the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Paul Campbell and Cathie Bishop of Sioux City; a grandson, Issac Campbell; and several nieces and nephews.

He. was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Pallbearers will he Wesley Campbell, Daniel Rygh, Darrell, Gene, Jeris and Tim Vermeer.
