PIERSON, Iowa — Nellie Hinkhouse, 94, of Pierson died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at Correctionville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Correctionville, Iowa.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pierson Christian Church, with the Rev. Les Larson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at the Earnest and Michaelson Funeral Home in Knigsley, Iowa.

Mrs. Hinkhouse was born Sept. 13, 1903, near Moville, Iowa, the daughter of John and Rose (Harrison) Williams. She was raised on a farm near Moville and attended schools in the Moville area and Sioux City.

She married W.B. "Willie" Hinkhouse on Oct. 9, 1921, in Moville. The couple farmeded in the Pierson area until retiring in 1946. They owned and operated the H&H Grocery Store from 1955 to 1960. He died May 29, 1989.

She was a member of the Pierson American Legion Auxiliary, the Eastern Star Pierson Chapter 509 and the Rebekha Lodge.

Survivors include four sons, Robert and his wife, Bette, and Duane and his wife, Marvel, all of Pierson, Ronald and his wife, Joyce, of Green Bay, Wis. and Roger, of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Jeanne Denis of Green Bay, Wis.; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Leslie and Walter Williams; two sisters, Besse Sparks and Marjorie DeLambert; and a son-in-law, Richard Denis.
