Hazel Herbold, 94, of Pierson died Friday, Dec. 26, 1997, at the Countryside Retirement Home in Sioux City.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Pierson United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Keith Pals officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Earnest and Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Mrs. Herbold was born Aug. 18, 1903 in rural Kingsley, the daughter of Charles and Ida (Benedix) Seitel.

She married Ewald L. Herbold on Dec. 2, 1925, in Sioux City. The couple farmed near Pierson until his retirement. He died July 6, 1966. She continued to live on the farm and was active in its management. She entered the Correctionville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Correctionville, Iowa in February 1995 and had been a resident of Countryside Retirement Home since October 1997.

She was a member of Pierson United Methodist Church, the Pierson Rebekah Lodge, the Tuesday Club and the Northside Club. She enjoyed gardening and traveling.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Arlo D. and Patricia of Sioux City; a grandson, Bryan P. Herbold; and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Pallbearers will be Donald Jahn, Leo Keck, Robert Benedix, Bud and Bryan Herbold and Robert Hinkhouse.

Memorials may be directed to Pierson United Methodist Church.
