PIERSON, Iowa — Thelma G. Rischen, 91, of Pierson died Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997, in Livermore, Calif.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pierson United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Keith Pals officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home of Kingsley, Iowa.

Mrs. Rischen was born Dec. 14, 1905, in Danbury, Iowa, the daughter of Millard E. and Alma (Iddings) Gray. She graduated from Danbury High School and Morningside College in 1929.

She married Carl Rischen on June 17, 1936, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He died July 24, 1991. She taught school at Union Consolidated, Pierson Consolidated and Kingsley-Pierson Community Schools.

She was a member of Pierson United Methodist Church and the Dorcus Circle and a past matron of the Pierson Chapter 509 of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne and her husband, John Schmidt, of St. Louis, Mo., and Jane Sheridan of Livermore, Calif.; a son and his wife, Carl G: "Chip" and Pamela of Seattle, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Kursten and Justen Sheridan, John, Michael and Kimberly Schmidt and Saige and Levi Andersen; a sister, Nell Jensen of Danbury; and two brothers, Frank I. Gray of Lincoln, Neb., and Milford "Stub" Gray of Sioux City.
