PIERSON, Iowa-- Hurby M. Hansen, 88, of Pierson died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997, at the Correctionville, Iowa Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Salem Lutheran Church in Correctionville, with the Rev. Marvin Mueller and Pastor Scott Meier officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Pierson. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home of Kingsley, Iowa.

Mr. Hansen was born Feb. 5, 1909, in Mondamin, Iowa, the son of Hans and Rosetta (Jensen) Hansen. He was raised in the Soldier and Ute, Iowa areas.

He married Louisa Korth on Oct. 23, 1928, in Sioux City. The couple farmed in the Wakefield and Thurston, Neb. areas before moving to Pierson in 1945. He was employed with Farber International Tractor Dealership for 10 years as a mechanic. He then opened his own maintenance shop, which he operated until retiring. She died March 3, 1993.

He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Loren and Joan of Pierson; two daughters and their husbands, Elaine and Norman Lubberstedt of Dixon, Neb. and Jeanette and Earl Rock of Lake City, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Joan Hansen of Audubon, Iowa; three sisters, Bernice Stockfleth of Schleswig, Iowa, Roseanna and her husband Luverne Schroeder of Denver, Colo. and Hazel and her husband Rudy Thies of Mapleton, Iowa; three half-sisters, Bette and her husband Gene Barth of Correctionville, Iowa, LoVella Hien of Anthon, Iowa and Grace Fouts of Onawa, Iowa; two half-brothers, Clifford Hansen of Le Mars, Iowa and Jack Hansen of Louisiana; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son Harold; four brothers; a sister; and a grandson.
