PIERSON, Iowa — Alice E. Hathaway, 84, died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 7, 1995, at her residence in rural Pierson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Christian Church in Pierson, with the Rev. Leslie Larson officating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Earnest-Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hathaway was born Sept. 30, 1911, daughter of Anton and Anna(Schuldt) Paulsen in Anthon. She was raised in the Lawton and Bronson area. She graduated from Bronson High School in 1930. On June 28, 1933, she married Howard G. Hathaway in Bronson. He died June 10,11984.

She was a member of the Pierson Christian Church, Pierson's Women's Club, Kingsley Garden Club, the Tuesday Club of Pierson and a past member of the Rebehki Lodge. She received a certificate for being on the Rural Cancer Drive for 10 years during the 1960s and 1970s.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Hathaway of Sioux City and Ben and his wife Lois Hathaway of Tulsa, Okla.; two granddaughters; Shanda Newton and Jamie Hathaway; one grandson, Chad Hathaway; one great-grandson, Anthony Newton and two sisters, Sylvia Ashley of Anthon and Anna Reinhold of Lawton.
