William Wesley Campbell, 83, of Sioux City died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Christy-Smith Berkemier Chapel, with the Rev. Janice Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Campbell was born Aug. 31, 1920, in Morehead, N.D., the son of Claude Wesley and Nellie (Trober) Campbell. He attended school in the Sioux City School District.

He married Sara Jane Pearline Burns on Dec. 9, 1939. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946, stationed in Guam. He was employed with Armour Packing Co. for 10 years. Doc McCulley for several years and worked at Prince Manufacturing until his retirement.

He was a member of Riverside United,Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sara Jane Pearline Campbell of Sioux City; a daughter, Alberta (Campbell) Rooney of Sioux City; two sons, James Nathon Campbell of Sioux City, and Bennie Campbell and his wife, Lynda of Ottawa, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be James Campbell, Robert Campbell, Wallace Ruckman, James Campbell Jr., Bennie Campbell and Greg Schere.
