CUSHINING-IOWA — Henry Albert Meins, 78, of Cushing died Sunday, April 20, 1997, at his residence.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Cushing, with the Rev. Douglas Opp officiating. Burial will be in Cushing Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Barker Funeral Home in Holstein, Iowa.

Mr. Meins was born June 11, 1918, in Goodthunder, Minn., the son of Fred and Elizabeth (Mangolson) Meins. He was raised in the Hawarden and Akron, Iowa,areas.

He married Ella L. Westphal on Nov. 26, 1941, in Dakota City. The couple farmed in the Cushing area. They retired and moved into Cushing in 1978.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where he was a council member, a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Cushing Farm and Town, the Lutheran Brotherhood and the N.F.O.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Kayana and Dick Hulce of Sioux City and Vicki and Eldon Nippert of Cushing; two grandchildren, Jason Meins and Jennifer Hulce; a brother and his wife, Charles and Alice of Manchester, N.H.; three sisters, Martha LaFrenz of Luverne, Minn., Evelyn Taggart of Vermillion, S.D., and Anna and her husband, Howard Wilkinson, of Sioux City; and his special friend, Beulah Joy of Cushing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, George, Fred Jr. and Otto; and a sister, Mary Bierwirth.
