Karen Marie Jepsen, 53, of Carroll, Iowa, formerly of Ida Grove, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997, at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove, with the Rev. John Schauer and the Rev. Andrew Currao officiating. Burial will be in Cushing Cemetery at Cushing, Iowa. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Chirstensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove.

Mrs. Jepsen was born Oct. 4, 1944, in Cushing, the daughter of Harlan H. and Wilma G. (Laing) Fredrichsen. She graduated from Cushing High School in 1962, as class valedictorian.

She married Roger R. "Butch" Jepsen on April 23, 1967, in Cushing. She was employed as a bookkeeper with Feld Fire Equipment of Carroll and previously with the Schleswig schools, Farmers State Bank of Schleswig, First Federal Savings Bank in Ida Grove and as a bookkeeper with GOMACO in Ida Grove for several years.

She was active in Cub Scouts, the Ida Grove Music Boosters, a founder of the Ida Grove After Prom Committee and served as treasurer for St. Paul Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crafts, dancing and roller skating.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Todd Roger of Alton, Iowa, Troy Allan of Wayne, Neb. and Travis Dean of Carroll; her mother of Cushing; a brother and his, wife, Steve and Vanessa Fredrichsen of Cushing; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Harlan Dean Fredrichsen.

A memorial fund has been established.
