MAPLETON, Iowa — Alyce Marie Anderson, 67, of Mapleton died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. Shirley Textor officiating. Burial will be in Cushing Cemetery, Cushing, Iowa. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Anderson was born Dec. 20, 1930, near Correctionville, Iowa, the daughter of H. Oscar and Augusta (Petersen) Wright. She attended school in Battle Creek, Iowa.

She married Dale B. Anderson on July 12, 1947, in South Sioux City. The couple lived in the Cushing and Correctionville area until 1986, when they moved to Storm Lake, Iowa. They later moved to Mapleton in 1991. He died Nov. 8, 1991.

She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary of Cushing and a former member of Stella Chapter 17 Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading and playing cards.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Arlyn Stewart of Sauk Centre, Minn., Pamela and Daniel Kovarna of Mapleton and Candace and Robert Miller of Correctionville; a son and his wife, Steven and Cindee of Mapleton; 11 grandchildren, Denise Beckermann, Todd Conover, David, Christina, William and Dustin Kovarna, Renee Knaack, Daniel and James Miller, Holly and Kevin Anderson; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Gladys Leesley of Oto, Iowa, and Betty and her husband, Dale Stauffer of Ida Grove, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother.
