Pauline Veronica Kirsch, 78, of Holly Springs died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at her home after a lengths illness.
Services will he at 10:30 Wednesday at the Church of the Nativity in Sioux City with the Rev.Gerald Feierfcil officiating. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery, Holy Springs.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Armstrong Funerarl Home in Mapleton,Iowa.
Vistation will resume Wednesday Morning at the church, one hour prior to services.
Mrs. Kirsch was Feb. 12, 1921, at Anthon, Iowa, the daughter of Jeffrey and Elva (Gothier) O'Connell. She graduated from Oto High School in 1938 and attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, where she received her teaching certificate. She then taught country school for several years.
She married Francis L. Kirsch on Jan. 14, 1943 in Oto. The couple farmed in the Holly Springs area.
She was a member of St. Phillips Catholic Church in Hornick, Iowa for 52 years and a member of the Altar Society until the church closed. She then became a member of the Church of the Nativity in Sioux City.
She was active in the community as a 4-H leader, a substitute teacher and secretary at Westwood School District. She was also a member of the Oto Alumni Association and a former member of the Woodbury County Genealogy Society. She enjoyed traveling, and fishing.
Survivors include her husband a son, Franklin of Huntsville, Ala., two daughters: Francine and her husband, William McGregor, of Sioux City, and Kathleen Geiger of Beaumont, Texas; six grandchildren, Scott, Kevin, and Brian McGregor, Eric and Nathan Kirsch, and Amy Geiger; three great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Vincent and Doris O'Connell of Oto, Iowa, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers will be Scott, Kevin and Brian McGregor, Eric Kirsch, Amy Geiger and Dennis O'Connell.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxiand, and the Siouxland Regional Caneer center.
