DANBURY, Iowa. — James Francis Weber, 71, of Danbury died Tuesday, April 2, 1996, at a Sioux City hospital following, a brief illness.

A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury with the Rev. David Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Danbury Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the church, with a vigil wake service at 8 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary. There will also be visitation at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until service time.

The Armstrong Funeral Home of Danbury is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Weber was born Feb. 2, 1925 on the family farm northwest of Danbury, the son of John and Anna (Kleine) Weber. He received his education in rural schools and at St. Mary's Catholic School in Danbuty. Mr. Weber, served with the United States Army as a paratrooper in Germany from 1946 to 1947. He married Ellen Moser on June 6, 1950, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury. The couple lived and worked on a farm northwest of Danbury their entire married life.

Mr. Weber was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury, where he served as a Eucharistic minister, and was a member of the finance committee. He was a past member of the Danbury Catholic school board, and belonged to the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen; two daughters and their husbands, Dianne and Rick Moore of Omaha, Neb., and Joan and Dean Schettler of Breda, Iowa; five sons, Mike, and Dean and his wife Ramona, all of Danbury, Marty and his Wife Norma of Paullina, Iowa, Jeff and his wife Tracy of LeMars, Iowa, and Alan and his wife Kathy of Danbury: three brothers and their wives, Ray and Marian of Danbury, and Leo and Helen and Vern and Evonne, all of Mapleton, Iowa; six sisters, Irma and her husband Jim Sokolowski of Danbury, Lois and her husband Ron Seuntjens of Mapleton, Helen and her husband Tom Thiel of Renton, Wash., Carole and her husband Jim Barkley of Sioux City, Alice Weber of Maquoketa, Iowa, and Martha Halloran of Chatfield, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one step-greatgrandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Ann Schoenherr; a brother, Donald Weber; and a grandson, James Moore.
