Jay G Prichard, 84, of Hornick was born October 13, 1885 at Holly Springs and died Sunday, March 8, 1970 at the Onawa hospital after a long illness.
At the age of 6 years his Mother died and he spent his boyhood with is grandparents, Edwin and Abby Prichard at Ticonic, Iowa. Mr Prichard farmed in the Hornick area his entire life and in 1948 he retired and moved to the home south of Rodney where he spent the remainder of his life. He served as president and director of the Grant Center School Board for many years and was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge at Rodney, Iowa. Mr Prichard served his county as township trustee for a number of years and attended the Ticonic Methodist Church.
On March 16, 1910 he married Emily Malott.
Survivors include; six sons, Fred of Fontanello, Iowa, Basil and Stewart of Hornick, Paul of Mapleton and Gordie of San Jose California; four daughters, Mrs Helen Birchard and Mrs Effie Till of Hornick, Mrs Dorothy Reznek of Sioux City and Mrs Grace Parker of Orange, California; 27 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, three brothers and one son.
Services were held at 10;oo a.m. Wednesday, March 11, 1970 at Ticonic United Methodist Church.
Burial was in the Grant Cemetery.
Pallbearers were all grandsons, Don, Jay., Dennis, Jake, Jerry, Jeff, Kenneth, Ramond Prichard, David Prichard, Tom and Mark Till.
