Jay Aaron King, 65, of Sioux City died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in Sioux City.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Richard Francis officiating. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Grant Township Cemetery, Rodney, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Jay was born May 7, 1939, in Correctionville, Iowa, the son of James R. and Farsina (Martin) King. He grew up in Smithland, Iowa, and graduated from Smithland High School in 1958. He joined the Iowa National Guard in Mapleton, Iowa, and later transferred to the Army Reserve Unit in Sioux City.

He married Norma Hewitt on June 6, 1959, in Rodney, Iowa. The couple made their home in Rodney. He went to work for Sears in 1962. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1966. He continued working for Sears until his retirement in 1995, after 33 years of service.

He was an active and faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed woodworking and traveling with his family. He provided many opportunities for the family to get together. He was a good friend and neighbor to many people and had touched many lives as well as those of his family.

Survivors include his wife, Norma King of Sioux City; two sons and their wives, Mark A. and Jacki King of Racine, Wis., and Jerald J. and Kelly King of Dakota City; five grandchildren, Zachary, Jessica, Erin, Sarah and Katelyn King; a sister, Janet Summers of Hornick, Iowa; two brothers, James King of Mishawaka, Ind., and Joseph King and his wife, Dottie of Jefferson City, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland or Westminster Presbyterian Church.
