Theodore Guy Montgomery, of Hornick, Iowa passed away at a Sioux City hospital on December 30, 1978. Death came at the age of 78 years 1 month and 27 days.

He was born at Luton, Iowa on November 3, 1900 to Charles and Erma Inlay Montgomery. On May 14, 1925 he was united in marriage with Mae Sams at Elk Point, South Dakota and the couple moved to Hornick in 1936. Mr. Montgomery was a rural mail carrier having retired in December 1970 after 49 years of service.

He was a member of Hornick Methodist Church, a member of the National Rural Letter Carriers, Association, and was Secretary of the Hornick Consolidated School for a number of years.

Survivors are his wife Mae, of Hornick, three sons, Warren of Sioux City, Gerald of Hackensack, New Jersey and Dennis of Barrington, Illinois, and one sister Mrs. Ruth Vermilyea of Onawa, Iowa, There are seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 1979 in the United Methodist Church, Hornick, Iowa. with Rev. Dale Church officiating. The organist was Mrs. Orval Cox and the Hornick Men's Quartet sang "How Great Thou Art" and "In The Garden".

Active casket bearers were Kevin Montgomery, Kirk Montgomery, Keith Montgomery, Edwin Helming, Orval Cox, and Bruce Haddock. Honorary bearers were. Fredrick Rose, Louis Haitz, Lawrence Anderson, Walter Steele, Earl Hanner, and Merle Carr.

Interment was in the Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa, with arrangements by Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
