BATTLE CREEK, Iowa —Loretta C. Meier, 72, of Battle Creek died Monday, Aug. 12, 1996, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove with the Rev Gerald Fisch officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Danbury. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday, with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Battle Creek.

Mrs. Meier was born Feb. 3, 1924, in Mapleton, the daughter of John and Mary (Baagoe) Nielsen. She graduated from Danbury High School and attended Nettleton Business College.

On April 6, 1942, she married Vincent "Bud" Meier at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury. The couple Farmed in the Battle Creek area for many years, She also worked in the restaurant business for many years, first in Mapleton and then she owned and operated the Hiway Cafe in Battle Creek for several years. After selling the business she continued to work in Battle Creek and Ida Grove.

Mr. Meier died July 28, 1996. Mrs. Meier was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Richard and Barbara of Battle Creek, Robert and Glenrose of Council Bluffs and Ronald and Roxanne of Carroll; a daughter, Margery Meier of Sioux City; seven grandchildren;Sherri Jepsen,
Michael, Gina, Bobby, Mistaya and Abby; a great-grandson; and a sister and her husband, DeVilda and James Collins of Danbury.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Delphine Meier.
