Ardith Ione Thompson, 60, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at her residence.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Westlawn Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Paul Speidel officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Ardith was born on Feb. 29, 1952, in Akron, Iowa, to Harold and Eldora Kleihauer. She graduated from Akron High School and earned her BS degree from USD.

She was married to Ronald John Thompson on April 9, 1988, in Akron. She worked as a bookkeeper in the payroll department for Penn National at the Argosy Casino.

She enjoyed collecting Barbie dolls and Wizard of Oz figures. She was the current president of Women Aware and longtime board member. She was also a member of Westlawn Presbyterian Church where she was a Seated Elder and church Treasurer.

Ardith is survived by her husband, Ron Thompson of Sioux City; father, Harold Kleihauer of Alcester, S.D.; two brothers, Harlan Kleihauer and Gordon (Rita) Kleihauer, both of Akron; a sister, Audrey (Bob) Hubner of Pipestone, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother.
