Leo M. Ehli, 86, of Sioux City passed away on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at a Sioux City Hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Church with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with military honors conducted. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Leo was born on March 22, 1926, in Selz, N.D., to Martin and Mary (Ripplinger) Ehli. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army.

He was married to Mary Weist on Oct. 24, 1950, in Harvey, N.D. He worked for J.C. Penney for 42 years.

Leo enjoyed fishing, golfing in his younger days, playing cards, listening to country music and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.

Leo is survived by his wife, Mary Ehli of Sioux City; three daughters, Connie (Jim) Smith of Woodbury, Minn., Peggy (Jim) Lind of Waterloo, Iowa, and Susan Boutwell of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Allison Lind, Sarah (Danny) Smith, Abbi Boutwell, Elizabeth Smith and David Smith; and two sisters, Irene Johnson of Jamestown, N.D., and Frances (Harold) Derhak of Minot, N.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.
