M. Pauline Groves, 97, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Villa Cottages in Fort Dodge.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Church, with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Pauline was born on Nov. 12, 1915 in Danbury, Iowa, to Thomas and Bessie (Hardman) Walsh. She graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy in Danbury. She enlisted in the U.S. Army and served her country from 1943 to 1945.

She was married to Delbert Groves on Aug. 9, 1946, in Sioux City. He preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1997, in Sioux City. She worked for many years for Wincharger, Zenith and Younkers.

Pauline enjoyed bowling, and took great pride that she served her country in the U.S. Army. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament and a leader for the Girl Scouts.

She is survived by her two daughters, Deb (Don) Ahrendt of Fort Dodge, and Mary (Ray) Krueger of Sioux City; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Juli Brown of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Anna and Mary; and a brother, Thomas.
