30 November 2012George C. Carlson, 85, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Riverside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ed Ward officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. George C. Carlson was born on June 7, 1927, in Oakland, Iowa, the son of Fred and Mabel Carlson.
George married Lois A. Engelbrecht on July 3, 1951, in Sioux City. George was employed with Rosenthal Foods as a truck driver and truck loader.
In his free time, George enjoyed yard ornaments, dancing, reading the Bible, playing cards and holding family gatherings. He was a member of Riverside Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher and folded church bulletins.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; two sons, Gary F. Carlson and his wife, Pat of Lincoln, Neb., and George A. Carlson and Lynne of Sioux City; a daughter, Ruth Carver and her husband, Will, of Dakota City; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
