John M. Johnson, 81, 225 W. 16th St., South Sioux City, died Monday, (June 6, 1982) in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Morningside Church of Christ. Mr. Philip Olsen officiated. Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery under direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mr. Johnson was born Oct. 2, 1900, in Union County, S.D. and was a longtime resident of South Sioux City. He married Hilda S. Anderson Aug. 3, 1925, in Akron and she died Jan. 31, 1969, in South Sioux City. He married Margretha Ruschmann May 4, 1970, in South Sioux City. She died Sept. 15, 1979, in South Sioux City. He worked as a carpenter for various contractors in Sioux City for 40 years. He worked as a radio technician for KSCJ radio station and a station in Lincoln between carpenter jobs. He taught radio at Sioux Falls for a short time during World War II. He retired in 1965. He was a member of Carpenters Local 948, Morningside Church of Christ and the Amateur Ham Radio and Repeaters Association.
He is survived by two sons, John H. of Sioux City and Eldon of Denver; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Flores of Merced, Calif. three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
