Harold L. Doxtad, 85, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Whitfield United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sylvia Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with family present 7 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Harold was born on Nov. 17, 1927, to Henry and Katheryn (Von Seggern) Doxtad, in Emerson, Neb. After graduating from high school, he received his higher education from the National Business Training School.

He was married to Mary E. Gatzemeyer on Jan. 3, 1949 in Maskell, Neb. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a corporal during the Korean War. When he returned home, he went to work for the Chicago N.W. Railroad as a brakeman and later became a conductor.

Harold loved working on old cars, spoiling his dog, and the company of his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Whitfield United Methodist Church and the American Legion.

Harold is survived by his wife, Mary Doxtad; three children, Leon (Lynn) Doxtad, Larry Doxtad, and June Doxtad; granddaughter, Karri (Jason) Wilde; two great-grandchildren, Kay-Lea and Alexis, all of Sioux City; two brothers, Lowell (Yvonne) Doxtad of Simi Valley, Calif., and Kenneth (Janice) Doxtad of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Harriet (Wesley) Kirch of Kingsville, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Judy.
