Dean L. Thompson, 41, of Glenwood, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City and Salix, Iowa, passed away suddenly Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, in Glenwood.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Dean was born on May 4, 1971, in Sioux City, the son of Larry and Lynn (Maack) Thompson. Dean lived in Salix before moving to Sioux City. He graduated from Riverside School in 1991. Dean worked at Goodwill Industries, WACO and Mid-Step Services before moving to Glenwood. He had lived at Park Place in Glenwood for several years.

Dean enjoyed fishing, participating in bowling and track and field at Special Olympics. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his mother, Lynn Thompson of Sioux City; two sisters, Cindy Bohelski of Omaha, and Laura Payne and her husband, Dennis of Nora Springs, Iowa; a brother, Rick Thompson and his wife, Samantha of Kansas City, Mo.; and eight nieces and nephews, Shondra Payne, Drew Payne, Deb Zapata, Devon Payne, Zoe Bohelski, Katelynn Thompson, Zachary Bohelski and Brooke Thompson.

Dean was preceded in death by his father, Larry; and his grandparents.
