Charles R. "Chuck" Hallbauer, 81, of Sioux City died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ralph Shorey officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Charles was born Jan. 19, 1931, in Cherokee, Iowa. He grew up in Cherokee, where he graduated from high school. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict.

On Nov. 9, 1957, he married Ruth M. Zumach in Lone Rock, Iowa. The couple made their home in Sioux City, where Chuck worked for Chesterman Bottling Co. for 54 years.

Chuck was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a son and his wife, Mike and Nancy Hallbauer of Adel, Iowa, and their children, Sydney and Dylan; a daughter and her husband, Karen and Larry Horsley of Sioux City, and their children, Jessica, Zachary and Joshua.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Vera (Jones) Hallbauer and two grandsons, Christopher and Blake Horsley.
